About Us

Norman Birk, President and CEO, started Birk Manufacturing, Inc. in 1989. 

With over three decades of experience in design and manufacturing of flexible heating elements Mr. Birk is responsible for many innovations in the heater industry.

In 1989, Birk Manufacturing began in a small 1,000 square foot rented industrial facility in Stonington, CT and soon expanded to adjacent facilities, comprising 3,000 square feet.

In 1994, Birk Manufacturing moved to a 10,000 square foot facility in Old Saybrook, CT only to outgrow it five years later in 1999.

In 2000, Birk Manufacturing built a new 15,000 square foot building in East Lyme, CT.

In 2005, Birk Manufacturing began an expansion to the East Lyme, CT location adding 17,000 square feet to the manufacturing side, doubling the workspace to a total of 32,000 square feet.

In 2006, Birk Manufacturing celebrated the grand opening of the addition and the recently achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification.  Birk Manufacturing introduced specialty climate controlled, pressurized clean rooms.

As Birk Manufacturing’s reputation grew, so did our business.  We are proud to have developed a reputation for producing a high quality product while meeting our customers’ strict cost objectives. We continually grow our business year after year based on providing our customers with prompt service, a high quality product and on-time delivery.   At Birk, we prides ourselves on being able to produce prototypes, sometimes within days, and offering the shortest lead times for new orders in the industry. 

New customers and growth are supported by well-trained personnel and equipment to meet our customers’ needs.  While currently employing 65 people, Birk Manufacturing is continually looking to add to our staff.  We strive to keep employees up to date on the latest techniques in manufacturing and currently have 4 application engineers involved in the design of new products.  Potential customers are able to call up and speak directly to an application engineers to collaborate on new projects and develop quotes. 

All raw material is subject to incoming inspection.  All orders are subject to First Piece Inspection and Final Inspection requirements.   

We are proud to be ISO 9001: 2000 Certified and continue to work hard towards continual improvement of product quality and service.
