Mike Mattox
President
Mike is responsible for all aspects of the company’s operations, including the design, manufacture, sales and marketing of all of Birk’s customized thermal solutions. He takes the lead in ensuring that the entire Birk team profitably meets customer needs and exceeds customer expectations. Since joining the company in 2008 he has led Birk through a company-wide transformation, significantly improving results on operational and financial metrics and has instituted a Lean thinking culture. Before joining Birk, he held engineering and project management positions in the plastics and equipment manufacturing industries. Mike received a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island. He received his Continuous Improvement Champion Certification (CICC) from CONNSTEP and project management certification from Bryant University. Mike is currently working to obtain his MBA from Rensselaer.
Joan Reeder
Customer Service
Joan makes sure that customer orders and special requests get communicated accurately, completely and promptly throughout our organization. She prepares and distributes quotes, handles order entry and order acknowledgements, answers customer calls and fields requests for updates on order status. She also works with our field sales representatives and helps us ensure that they have the support they need to succeed. She came to Birk in 2008 with experience supporting two Connecticut law firms after studying Business and Teaching at the University of Ashford and University of Omaha.
