Thermocouple Sensors

Birk's standard thermocouple sensors are temperature sensing devices that consist of two different metal alloys which will produce a voltage directly proportional to the temperature difference between the conductors. They are self-powered sensors requiring no external form of extraction. Type K thermocouple and Type J thermocouples are the most common and widely used thermocouple types. Birk standard thermocouples sensors are less expensive, have greater temperature ranges then a traditional RTD, provide accelerated response times (less than one second) and are extremely robust.

Birk offers standard thermocouple types J and K with Teflon and fiberglass insulation options making them ideal for any application even in the harshest working environment. We at Birk understand the temperature sensing needs of different applications like no other. Birk's thermocouple probes, thermocouple wires with and without connectors, are all highly proficient in temperature sensing projects. You can also get customized solutions for highly specific requirements of thermocouples.


Type J offered with Teflon and Fiberglass Insulation*

Alloy combination :
- Positive Lead: Iron Fe (magnetic) - Negative Lead: Constantan Copper-Nickel Cu-Ni
Lead Gauge: 24awg and 30awg Operating Temperature Ranges
- Thermocouple with Teflon Insulation: (200°C) - Thermocouple with Fiberglass Insulation: (300°C)
Lead wire lengths: 12", 24" and 36" Additional lead lengths available upon request Appropriate for use in air, vacuum, reducing or oxidizing atmospheres Limited subzero use due to rusting and increased fragility of the iron conductor

Type K Thermocouples are offered with Teflon and Fiberglass Insulation*

- Positive Lead: CHROMEGAŽNICKEL CHROMIUM Ni-Cr - Negative Lead: ALOMEGAŽ NICKEL ALUMINUM Ni-AI (magnetic)
Lead Gauge: 24awg and 30awg Operating Temperature Ranges
- Thermocouple with Teflon Insulation: (200°C) - Thermocouple with Fiberglass Insulation: (300°C)
Lead wire lengths: 12", 24" and 36" Customized lead lengths available upon request Performs best in clean oxidizing atmospheres Corrosion resistant Not recommended for low temperatures applications or under partially oxidizing conditions in vacuum
